Ze'ev Boim was an Israeli politician. He was the mayor of Kiryat Gat before becoming a Knesset member for Likud and later Kadima. Boim was Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister of Housing and Construction, and Minister of Immigrant Absorption.

Nikolai Aleksandrovich Shanin was a Russian mathematician who worked on topology and constructive mathematics. He introduced the delta-system lemma and the caliber of a topological space.

Nildo Parente was a Brazilian film actor. He appeared in 60 films between 1962 and 2010. Parente died on 31 January 2011, in Rio de Janeiro, due to a stroke.

Noel Arthur Meredyth Gayler was an admiral in the United States Navy, who served as the sixth Director of the National Security Agency from 1969 to 1972, and ninth Commander of Pacific Command from 1972 to 1976. Gayler was awarded three Navy Cross medals as a World War II flying ace and is credited with five aerial victories while flying for VF-2 and VF-3. Gayler was an ardent advocate for nuclear disarmament.
