Trevor Graham Baylis was an English inventor best known for the wind-up radio. The radio, instead of relying on batteries or external electrical source, is powered by the user winding a crank. This stores energy in a spring which then drives an electrical generator. Baylis invented it in response to the need to communicate information about AIDS to the "people of Africa". He ran a company in his name dedicated to helping inventors to develop and protect their ideas and to find a route to market.

Carole Augusta Shelley was a British-American actress who made her career in the United States. Her many stage roles included Gwendolyn Pigeon in The Odd Couple, the character of Madame Morrible in the original Broadway cast of the musical Wicked. She won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in The Elephant Man in 1979.

Dennis W. Day was an American actor, singer, dancer and theater director, best known as one of the original cast members of The Mickey Mouse Club. After ending his career as a child actor, he went on to work as a theater director before relocating to Oregon in the 1980s.

Catherine Malia Godbold was an Australian actress. She was best known for her role as Deborah Hale Regnery on The Saddle Club and as Meg Bowman in Home and Away. Following the cancellation of Newlyweds in which she starred as Jules Carter, Godbold began doing voice over work in between auditions. In 1997, she was cast as Sondra Pike in Neighbours.

Masahiko Katsuya was a Japanese columnist, photographer, and pundit. After failing the entrance exams for the University of Tokyo and the University of Tsukuba, Katsuya entered Waseda University in 1980. He started working for an editor of Bungeishunjū after graduating from the University in 1985.

Douglas James Rain was a Canadian actor and narrator. Though primarily a stage actor, he provided the voice of the HAL 9000 computer for the film 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and its sequel, 2010: The Year We Make Contact (1984).

Francis Albert Lai was a French composer, noted for his film scores. He won the 1970 Oscar for Best Music, Original Score and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score for the film Love Story. The soundtrack album went to No. 2 in the Billboard album charts and the film's theme, "Where Do I Begin", was a hit single for Andy Williams.

Maria Esther Andion Bueno was a Brazilian professional tennis player. During her 11-year career in the 1950s and 1960s, she won 19 Grand Slam titles, making her the most successful South American female tennis player in history, and the only one to ever win Wimbledon. Bueno was the year-end number-one ranked female player in 1959 and 1960 and was known for her graceful style of play.

Donnelly Rhodes Henry was a Canadian character actor with many American television and film credits, probably best known to American audiences as the hapless escaped convict Dutch Leitner on the ABC soap opera spoof Soap and as Phillip Chancellor II on The Young and the Restless. Rhodes was well known to Canadian audiences as Sgt. Nick Raitt in the CBC TV series Sidestreet (1975–1978) and as Grant "Doc" Roberts in another CBC TV series called Danger Bay (1985–1990). He also starred as Doctor Cottle ("Doc") on the Sci Fi Channel television program Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009).
