Ali Akbar Moinfar was an Iranian politician and the first oil minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, serving briefly from 1979 to 1980. He later served as a Member of the Parliament of Iran from 1980 to 1984, representing Tehran, Rey and Shemiranat.

Sir John Shipley Rowlinson was a British chemist. He attended Oxford University, where he completed his undergraduate studies in 1948 and doctoral in 1950. He then became research associate at University of Wisconsin (1950–1951), lecturer at University of Manchester (1951–1961), Professor at Imperial College London (1961–1973) and back at Oxford from 1974 to his retirement in 1993.

Marshal Kim Yong-chun was a North Korean soldier and politician. He was a leader of the North Korean military. He held the North Korean military rank Chasu, was Vice Chairman of the National Defense Commission of North Korea, and was Minister of People's Armed Forces. He held a minor post within the Workers Party.

Georges Loinger was a French soldier during World War II. During his time in the French Resistance, he helped hundreds of Jewish children escape from occupied France to Switzerland.

Jonathan Pitre was a Canadian from Russell, Ontario, a small town near Ottawa. Pitre was born with a rare genetic mutation called recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB), which causes external and internal blistering across the body. His situation gained widespread attention in October 2012 when he was interviewed by the Ottawa Citizen, and he became an ambassador for DEBRA Canada, a charity devoted to the support and awareness of EB.

Edward Lopez Pastor was an American politician who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Arizona from 1991 to 2015. A member of the Democratic Party, he represented Arizona's 2nd congressional district from 1991 to 2003, and Arizona's 7th congressional district from 2003 to 2015. The latter district was numbered as the 4th district from 2003 to 2013.

Nikoloz Rurua was a Georgian politician, and a member of the Cabinet of Georgia in the capacity of Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, from 10 October 2008 until 25 October 2012. Rurua previously served as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Defence and Security of the Parliament of Georgia.

Chang Chun-yen was a Taiwanese electrical engineer and professor who served as President of National Chiao Tung University (NCTU). He was a member of Academia Sinica and a foreign associate of the United States National Academy of Engineering. Considered a founder of Taiwan's semiconductor industry, he was awarded the TWAS Prize for Engineering Sciences in 2006 and the Nikkei Asia Prize for Science in 2007.

David Albert Cooper was an Australian HIV/AIDS researcher, immunologist, professor at the University of New South Wales, and the director of the Kirby Institute. He and Professor Ron Penny diagnosed the first case of HIV in Australia.

Paulo Roberto de Freitas, best known as Bebeto, was a Brazilian volleyball coach and football manager. He was the president of Botafogo FR football club.
