Marjorie Lee Eaton was an American painter, photographer and character actress who physically portrayed Emperor Palpatine in the original release of The Empire Strikes Back, though her face was masked and her voice dubbed. The 2004 DVD release of the film had her replaced by the best-known portrayer of the character, Ian McDiarmid.

Jawad Ali (1907–1987) was an Iraqi historian and academic specializing in Islamic and Arabic history. He received his doctorate from Hamburg University in 1939 and is known for his book The history of the Arabs before Islam which became one of most referenced works on the history of Arabs before Islam. Jawad Ali worked in the Department of History at the Faculty of Education at the University of Baghdad beginning in the 1950s.

Bruno Snell was a German classical philologist. From 1931 to 1959 he held a chair for classical philology at the University of Hamburg where he established the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae research centre in 1944.
