Junya Satō was a Japanese film director and screenwriter. His son is a fellow film director Tōya Satō .

Pu Shu is a Chinese singer-songwriter who was born in Nanjing and grew up in Beijing. In 1994, he quit studying at Capital Normal University and started composing songs. He became a signed singer in Taihe Rye Music's Mai Tian Music (麦田音乐) in 1996. His signature works are "Flowers" (那些花儿) and "Birch Forest" (白桦林). He also has performed in films like Flowers Blooming and If I Lose You. After a break of 11 years he published the new song "The Ordinary Road" (平凡之路) as theme song for the Chinese film The Continent in 2014.

Ana Sol Escobar, formerly known professionally as Anasol and now as Sol Escobar, is a Colombian singer.

Geraldine Moodie was a Canadian photographer who pioneered in capturing photos of early Canadian history. She is best known for her work with indigenous peoples in Northern Canada. Moodie is one of Canada's first professional female photographers. She opened photography studios in Battleford, Saskatchewan (1891), Maple Creek (1897), and Medicine Hat, Alberta (1897).

Sir Charles Lyell, 1st Baronet, was a Scottish geologist who demonstrated the power of known natural causes in explaining Earth's history. He is best known as the author of Principles of Geology (1830–33), which presented to a wide public audience the idea that Earth was shaped by the same natural processes still in operation today, operating at similar intensities. The philosopher William Whewell termed this gradualistic view "uniformitarianism" and contrasted it with catastrophism, which had been championed by Georges Cuvier and was better accepted in Europe. The combination of evidence and eloquence in Principles convinced a wide range of readers of the significance of "deep time" for understanding the Earth and environment.
