John Torrance was an American shot putter and American football player. Torrance broke the shot put world record several times in 1934, his eventual best mark of 17.40 m remaining unbeaten until 1948. At the 1936 Summer Olympics he placed fifth.

Jacques de la Presle (1888-1969) was a French composer. He won Second Prix at the Prix de Rome in 1920 with his cantata Don Juan. The following year he won the Grand Prix with a cantata Hermione, and departed to spend four years at the Villa Médicis 1922-1925.

Hans Albert Oskar Stieber was a German conductor, composer and violinist. He was the founding director of the Hochschule für Theater und Musik in Halle an der Saale.

Sahibzada Iskander Ali Mirza, CIE, OSS, OBE, was a Pakistani general and civil servant who was the first President of Pakistan. He was elected in this capacity in 1956 until being dismissed by his appointed army commander General Ayub Khan in 1958.

William Lincoln Bakewell was the only American aboard the Endurance during the 1914 to 1916 Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition with Sir Ernest Shackleton. William Bakewell joined the Endurance crew in Buenos Aires, Argentina along with friend Perce Blackborow. Bakewell was hired on as an Able Seaman. Bakewell's adventures, including his time on board the Endurance, are documented in his own words in his memoir The American on the Endurance.

Fred Kohlmar was a New York City-born film producer. The former agent worked as an executive assistant to Samuel Goldwyn before becoming a producer in the 1930s. He worked for 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, and Columbia Pictures. Lee Kohlmar was his father.

Giacomo Acerbo, Baron of Aterno was an Italian economist and Fascist politician who drafted the Acerbo Law which solidified Benito Mussolini's position once in power.
