Ralph Waldo Ellison was an American novelist, literary critic, and scholar best known for his novel Invisible Man, which won the National Book Award in 1953. He also wrote Shadow and Act (1964), a collection of political, social and critical essays, and Going to the Territory (1986). For The New York Times, the best of these essays in addition to the novel put him "among the gods of America's literary Parnassus." A posthumous novel, Juneteenth, was published after being assembled from voluminous notes he left upon his death.

Rakieem "Mookie" Mustafa Allah Salaam is an American sprinter. Grew up in San Bernardino, California, Mookie started running track in the sixth grade, but was forced to quit by his stepfather. Salaam became a three-sport athlete at Edmond North High School in Edmond, Oklahoma. He played wide receiver on the football varsity, but decided to focus on track after suffering a dislocated hip in his junior year.

Royce Dwayne Applegate was an American actor and screenwriter who was first billed as Roy Applegate.

Anthony Carroll Knowles is an American politician and businessman who served as the seventh governor of Alaska from December 1994 to December 2002. Barred from seeking a third consecutive term as governor in 2002, he ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate in 2004 and again for governor in 2006. In September 2008, Knowles became president of the National Energy Policy Institute, a non-profit energy policy organization funded by billionaire George Kaiser's family foundation, and located at the University of Tulsa.

Maree Cheatham is an American actress, who is known for her performances on the daytime soap operas Days of Our Lives, Search for Tomorrow and General Hospital, as well as for her role as Nona on the Nickelodeon comedy series Sam & Cat (2013–14). She has also worked in many feature films, including Soul Man (1986), A Night at the Roxbury (1998), Hanging Up (2000), Labor Pains (2009) and Letters to God (2010).

David Hall was an American Democratic politician. He served as the 20th Governor of Oklahoma from January 11, 1971 to January 13, 1975. Prior to winning election as governor, Hall served as county attorney for Tulsa County and as a law professor at the University of Tulsa.

Erik Rhodes was an American film and Broadway singer and actor. He is best remembered today for appearing in two classic Hollywood musical films with the popular dancing team of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers: The Gay Divorcee (1934) and Top Hat (1935).
