He earned two gold stars for defeating yokozuna at a maegashira rank. He had 1691 career bouts, sixth on the all-time list. He retired in 2015 and was a coach at Tagonoura stable, until opening his own Nishiiwa stable in February 2018.

It is often known as the top scorer Nonato. He had disagreements with the board's "Verdão" and ended up leaving before the last round of Campeonato Goiano de 2012. Currently, he dispute the Campeonato Goiano de 2013 for Goianésia.

He is placed 30th in Guitar World's list of The 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time.
