She is the author of the script of the very successful Dutch movie Alles is Liefde, and won a Golden Calf for Best Actress in Phileine Says Sorry (2003), and for Best Scenario with Met grote blijdschap (2001).

She is best known for starring as Dana Brody in the Showtime series Homeland and for her critically acclaimed portrayal of Leah in the 2016 Sundance breakout film White Girl. Along with the rest of the cast of Homeland, Saylor was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2013 and 2014.
