Tyzen Hsiao was a Taiwanese composer of the neo-Romantic school. Many of his vocal works set poems written in Taiwanese Hokkien, the mother tongue of the majority of the island's residents. His compositions stand as a musical manifestation of the Taiwanese literature movement that revitalized the island's literary and performing arts in the 1970s and 1980s. Hsiao's career in music included additional success as a pianist and conductor.

Murat Bozlak, was a Kurdish politician active in several political parties. He was the president of the People's Democracy Party (HADEP) and a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP). Bozlak was a Kurdish politician and a founding member of the Social Democracy Party (SODEP), the Social Democratic Populist Party (SHP), the People’s Labor Party (HEP), the Democracy Party (DEP) and the HADEP. The first two parties were dissolved, while the latter three were banned by the Turkish constitutional court.

Mokhtar Yahyaoui was a human rights activist and a Tunisian judge. He was opposed to the system of former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. Yahyaoui was born on June 1, 1952 in the village of Ksar Hadada in southern Tunisia, and died in September 22, 2015 in Teskrayah in the village of Ghazaleh from the region of Bizerte.

Malek Alloula (1937–2015) was an Algierian poet, writer, editor, and literary critic.

Alacid da Silva Nunes was a Brazilian politician and retired military commander and colonel. Nunes served as the Governor of the Brazilian state of Pará for two nonconsecutive tenures: 1966 to 1971 and from 1979 until 1983. He also briefly served as the Mayor of Belém from 1964 to 1965 before leaving the office to successfully pursue his candidacy for Governor of Pará.

Paulo Brossard de Souza Pinto was a Brazilian jurist and politician. Born in Bagé, Rio Grande do Sul, he graduated in Law and served several terms as a parliamentarian in his state and in the National Congress as well. He also was a member of the Supreme Federal Court and the Superior Electoral Court of Brazil.

Nauro Diniz Machado was a Brazilian poet and writer. Machado was the son of Torquato Rodrigues Machado and Maria de Lourdes Machado Diniz. He was also married to writer Arlette Nogueira da Cruz. He had vast knowledge in the arts and philosophy while teaching himself in those areas. Compared by some critics to Fernando Pessoa, he is unique because he is a universal poet, a lot like his immediate contemporaries Ferreira Gullar, Lago Burnett, José Chagas, and Bandeira Tribuzi. Machado questioned the very essence and destination of human beings while cultivating a poetic language. His work has anguished and violent existential reflection traits that find few comparisons in the Portuguese language. He held several positions in public court between them DETRAN and EMATER and also the Secretary of the State of Maranhão Culture. Nauru Machado has lived in São Luís, leaving only for brief periods, but mostly for Rio de Janeiro to publish most of his works. However, he dedicated much of his life to his great passion, poetry. Has received numerous awards, among them the Brazilian Academy of Letters and the Brazilian Union of Writers. He had several of his works translated into German, French, and English.
