Ivar Karl Ugi was an Estonian-born German chemist who made major contributions to organic chemistry. He is known for the research on multicomponent reactions, yielding the Ugi reaction.

Frederick Pei Li was a Chinese-American physician. He was born in Canton, China (Guangzhou), and raised in New York City, where his parents operated a Chinese restaurant after World War II. His father, Li Hanhun, was a general in World War II and the chair of Guangdong provincial government during later years of the war.

Edward S. "Ted" Haworth was an American production designer and art director. Active from 1950 to 1992, he was the production designer or art director on more than 50 feature films. He won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction for Sayonara (1957) and was nominated for the same award for five other films: Marty (1955), Some Like It Hot (1959), Pepe (1960), The Longest Day (1962), and 'What a Way to Go! (1964).

Paul John Flory was an American chemist and Nobel laureate who was known for his work in the field of polymers, or macromolecules. He was a leading pioneer in understanding the behavior of polymers in solution, and won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1974 "for his fundamental achievements, both theoretical and experimental, in the physical chemistry of macromolecules".

Luigi Barzini Jr. was an Italian journalist, writer and politician most famous for his 1964 book The Italians, delving deeply into the Italian national character and introducing many Anglo-Saxon readers to Italian life and culture.
