Ger van Elk was a Dutch artist who created sculptures, painted photographs, installations and film. His work has been described as being both conceptual art and arte povera. Between 1959 and 1988 he lived and worked in Los Angeles, New York City, and Amsterdam, except for a period of study in Groningen in the 1960s. In 1996 he won the J. C. van Lanschot Prize for Sculpture.

Michail Gerasimovich Markov was a Russian cyclist who won a silver medal at the UCI Motor-paced World Championships in 1967. This was the only medal for the Soviet Unions in the entire history of those championships.

Andras (Andrew) Keller FRS was a naturalized British polymer scientist. He was Research Professor in Polymer Science, Department of Physics, University of Bristol, 1969–91, then Professor Emeritus.

Adolf Cornelius Piening was a Kapitänleutnant with the Kriegsmarine during World War II. He commanded the Type IXC U-boat U-155, sinking twenty-six ships on nine patrols, for a total of 140,449 gross register tons (GRT) of Allied shipping, to become the nineteenth highest scoring U-Boat ace of World War II, and receiving the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
