Naum Yakovlevich Vilenkin, Russian: Наум Яковлевич Виленкин, was a Soviet mathematician, an expert in representation theory, the theory of special functions, functional analysis, and combinatorics. He is best known as the author of many books in recreational mathematics aimed at middle and high school students.

Jacobus (Jaap) Wessels was a Dutch mathematician and Professor of Stochastic Operations Research at the Eindhoven University of Technology., known for his contributions in the field of Markov decision processes.

Colonel General Abdul Kadir Dagarwal, was an Afghan politician, diplomat, and a military officer in the Afghan Air Force who participated in the coup d'état that created the Republic of Afghanistan under the President Dawood Khan, and later directed the Afghan Air Force and Army Air Corps squadrons that attacked the Radio-TV station during the Saur Revolution. He served as the acting leader of the country for three days when the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) took power and declared the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, before handing over power to PDPA leader Noor Mohammad Taraki. He later served two terms as Minister of Defense, the first as part of the Taraki government from April to August 1978, and the latter as part of the Babrak Karmal government from 1982 to 1986. His second term took place during the Soviet war in Afghanistan.

Sol Babitz was an American violinist, teacher, writer and pioneer of historically informed performance. He married artist Mae Babitz in 1942 and had two daughters, Eve Babitz born in 1943 and Mirandi Babitz born in 1946 and lived in Hollywood across the street from the family of Jeff and Hope Corey. His family home was a musical and artistic salon with musicians Bernard Herrmann,Ingolf Dahl,Harry Lubin, Igor Stravinsky and poets Kenneth Rexroth, Kenneth Pagent, and Peter Yates and artists Eugene Berman and Vera Stravinsky.
