Prof. Marwan Awartani was born in Anabta town east of Tulkarm Governorate, Palestine on April 21, 1949. Dr. Awartani has become one of the leaders in innovative thinking and education development and education reform in the Middle East. Prof. Awartani was the Acting President of Al-Quds University in Jerusalem, Secretary General of the Universal Education Foundation and is the Chairman of the Arab Foundations Forum. Prof. Awartani is the President of the Palestinian Society for Mathematical Sciences, and Founding President of Alpha International, and the president of Palestine Technical University-Khadoorie in Tulkarem-west Bank. Now he is the Minister for Education and Higher Education.

Philip John Currie is a Canadian palaeontologist and museum curator who helped found the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in Drumheller, Alberta and is now a professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. In the 1980s, he became the director of the Canada-China Dinosaur Project, the first cooperative palaeontological partnering between China and the West since the Central Asiatic Expeditions in the 1920s, and helped describe some of the first feathered dinosaurs. He is one of the primary editors of the influential Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs, and his areas of expertise include theropods, the origin of birds, and dinosaurian migration patterns and herding behavior. He was one of the models for palaeontologist Alan Grant in the film Jurassic Park.

Jo Baier is a German film director and writer. He directed more than twenty films since 1982 and is known for Operation Valkyrie (2004), Henri 4 (2010) and Not All Were Murderers (2006). He is married to Gertrud Baier.

Gabriella Cristiani is an Italian film editor with about twenty feature film credits. She has had a notable collaboration with director Bernardo Bertolucci. Early in her career she assisted editor Franco Arcalli on two of Bertolucci's films, Last Tango in Paris (1972) and 1900 (1976). Arcalli was the "supervising editor" on a 1977 film, Berlinguer, I Love You, that was one of Cristiani's first feature editing credits; the film was directed by Giuseppe Bertolucci - Bernardo's brother. Arcalli was to have edited Bernardo Bertolucci's next film, La Luna (1979), but he died during production; Cristiani, who was assisting, then took over as editor.

Klaus-Peter Thaler was a professional cyclist between 1976 and 1988, successful in road-racing and cyclo-cross. He was world cyclo-cross champion twice as amateur and twice as professional and German champion eight times.

Michael S. Turner is an American theoretical cosmologist, who coined the term dark energy in 1998. He is the Bruce V. & Diana M. Rauner Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago, and was formerly the Assistant Director for Mathematical and Physical Sciences for the US National Science Foundation from 2003–2006. His book The Early Universe, co-written with fellow Chicago cosmologist Rocky Kolb and published in 1990, is a standard text on the subject.
