List of Famous Swimmers

Petra Thümer is a former swimmer from East Germany. She won gold medals in the 400 m and 800 m freestyle at the 1976 Summer Olympics and the 1977 European Aquatics Championships. During her career she set five world records in the 400 m and 800 m freestyle. In 1987 she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

Suzuka Hasegawa is a Japanese swimmer. She competed in the women's 200 metre butterfly event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In April 2017, Hasegawa broke the world junior record in the 200 butterfly with a 2:06.29 at Japanese Nationals.

Martin Vladimirovich Malyutin is a Russian swimmer. He has won medals at the European and World Championships.

Jodie Clare Henry, OAM is an Australian competitive swimmer, Olympic gold medallist and former world-record holder.

Melissa Louise Belote, also known by her current married name Melissa Belote Ripley, is an American former competition swimmer, three-time Olympic champion, and former world record-holder in two events. She represented the United States at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics.

Hannelore Anke is a retired German swimmer who competed for East Germany in the 1970s.

Adrian David Moorhouse MBE is an English former competitive swimmer who dominated British swimming in the late 1980s. He won the gold medal in the 100-metre breaststroke at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea. Since then Moorhouse, a former pupil of Bradford Grammar School, has translated his sporting success to a successful career in the business world, as managing director of Lane4, a consultancy helping individuals and teams around the world reach their fullest potential.
