Robert Kennicott was an American naturalist and herpetologist. Chronic illness kept Kennicott out of school as a child. Soon, Kennicott was providing specimens for the Smithsonian Institution via assistant secretary Spencer Fullerton Baird.

Captain Robert Bennet Forbes, was an American sea captain, China merchant and ship owner. He was active in ship construction, maritime safety, the opium trade, and charitable activities, including food aid to Ireland, which became known as America's first major disaster relief effort.

Robert E. Rose is an American politician. A Democrat, he was the 26th Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1975 to 1979 and was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Nevada in 1978. In 1986, Rose was appointed to the Eighth Judicial District Court. He was elected three times to the Nevada Supreme Court serving from 1989 to 2007.

Robert Varnajo was a French professional road bicycle racer. In the first part of his career, Varnajo won some road races, including a stage in the 1954 Tour de France. Later in his career, he specialized in track racing, and became French champion three times. He was born in Port-la-Claye-Curzon.
