André Hoffmann is a former German Speed skater who made a huge step forwards in the 1987–1988 season and won two 1500 metres races in the World Cup. It was even though highly surprising that he took gold medal in the 1500 m at the 1988 Olympics in Calgary. He beat the American Eric Flaim with six hundreds of a second and set a new world record with 1:52.06.

André Chastel was a French art historian, author of an important work on the Italian Renaissance.

André Néron was a French mathematician at the Université de Poitiers who worked on elliptic curves and abelian varieties. He discovered the Néron minimal model of an elliptic curve or abelian variety, the Néron differential, the Néron–Severi group, the Néron–Ogg–Shafarevich criterion, the local height and Néron–Tate height of rational points on an abelian variety over a discrete valuation ring or Dedekind domain, and classified the possible fibers of an elliptic fibration.

Andre Gunder Frank was a German-American sociologist and economic historian who promoted dependency theory after 1970 and world-systems theory after 1984. He employed some Marxian concepts on political economy, but rejected Marx's stages of history, and economic history generally.
