Umm Nidal
Maryam Mohammad Yousif Farhat, or Mariam Farahat, popularly known as Umm Nidal, "the mother of Nidal", or "Khansa of Palestine", was Palestinian politician, member of parliament in the Palestinian Legislative Council, and one of Hamas' candidates elected in the 2006 Palestinian legislative election. The word "Nidal" in Arabic is a term, meaning "struggle", "effort" or "work". She was one of the prominent Islamist female leaders in Palestine.

Toyo Shibata
Toyo Shibata was a bestselling Japanese poet; her first anthology Kujikenaide, published in 2009, sold 1.58 million copies. In comparison, poetry book sales of 10,000 are considered successful in Japan. Her anthology also topped Japan's Oricon bestseller chart. It was originally self-published, but upon seeing its success the publisher Asuka Shinsha reissued it, with new artwork, in 2010. It contains 42 poems. After back pain forced Shibata to give up her hobby of classical Japanese dance, she turned to writing poetry at the age of 92, at the suggestion of her son Kenichi. As of 2011 she was writing poems for a second anthology, lived alone in the Tokyo suburbs, and was a widow.

Ronald Dworkin
Ronald Myles Dworkin was an American philosopher, jurist, and scholar of United States constitutional law. At the time of his death, he was Frank Henry Sommer Professor of Law and Philosophy at New York University and Professor of Jurisprudence at University College London. Dworkin had taught previously at Yale Law School and the University of Oxford, where he was the Professor of Jurisprudence, successor to renowned philosopher H. L. A. Hart. An influential contributor to both philosophy of law and political philosophy, Dworkin received the 2007 Holberg International Memorial Prize in the Humanities for "his pioneering scholarly work" of "worldwide impact." According to a survey in The Journal of Legal Studies, Dworkin was the second most-cited American legal scholar of the twentieth century. After his death, the Harvard legal scholar Cass Sunstein said Dworkin was "one of the most important legal philosophers of the last 100 years. He may well head the list."

Jameh Jameh was a Syrian Armed Forces major general who held the position of head of military intelligence in Deir ez-Zor Governorate. He was killed by rebels on 17 October 2013, during the Syrian Civil War. He was likely shot by a rebel sniper in the Reshdiya neighbourhood of Deir ez-Zour city.
