Robert Dunkerson Orr was an American politician and diplomat who served as the 45th Governor of Indiana from 1981 to 1989. He was a member of the Republican Party.

Anthony Evan Hecht was an American poet. His work combined a deep interest in form with a passionate desire to confront the horrors of 20th century history, with the Second World War, in which he fought, and the Holocaust being recurrent themes in his work.

Richard Leech, born Richard Leeper McClelland, was an Irish actor.

Franz König was an Austrian Cardinal of the Catholic Church. He served as archbishop of Vienna from 1956 to 1985, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1958. The last surviving cardinal elevated by Pope John XXIII, he was the second-oldest and longest-serving cardinal worldwide at the time of his death.

Julius Axelrod was an American biochemist. He won a share of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1970 along with Bernard Katz and Ulf von Euler. The Nobel Committee honored him for his work on the release and reuptake of catecholamine neurotransmitters, a class of chemicals in the brain that include epinephrine, norepinephrine, and, as was later discovered, dopamine. Axelrod also made major contributions to the understanding of the pineal gland and how it is regulated during the sleep-wake cycle.

Pavlo Vasylyk was a Ukrainian Greek Catholic hierarch. He was clandestine bishop from 1974 to 1991, an auxiliary bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Ivano-Frankivsk from 1991 to 1993 and the first eparchial bishop of the new created Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Kolomyia – Chernivtsi from 1993 until his death in 2004.

Karl Sune Detlof Bergström was a Swedish biochemist. In 1975, he was appointed to the Nobel Foundation Board of Directors in Sweden, and was awarded the Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize from Columbia University, together with Bengt I. Samuelsson. He shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Bengt I. Samuelsson and John R. Vane in 1982, for discoveries concerning prostaglandins and related substances.
