Sir Robert Brown Black was a British colonial administrator. Born in Edinburgh and educated at George Watson's College and the University of Edinburgh, he would spend three decades overseas and return to Britain in the 1960s. He was Governor of Hong Kong from 1958 – 1964, Governor of Singapore from 1955 – 1957 and as Colonial Secretary of Hong Kong from 1952 – 1955.

Viktor Sergeevich Safronov was a Soviet astronomer who put forward the low-mass-nebula model of planet formation, a consistent picture of how the planets formed from a disk of gas and dust around the Sun.

Hans-Heinrich Herwarth von Bittenfeld, also known as Johnnie or Johann von Herwarth, was a German diplomat who provided the Allies with information prior to and during the Second World War.

Gert Gustav Paul Jeschonnek was an officer in the Kriegsmarine during World War II. Following World War II, he became commander of the post-war German Navy.
