David Pinhusovich Milman was a Soviet and later Israeli mathematician specializing in functional analysis. He was one of the major figures of the Soviet school of functional analysis. In the 70s he emigrated to Israel and was on the faculty of Tel Aviv University.

Charles Powell Walters was a Hollywood director and choreographer most noted for his work in MGM musicals and comedies from the 1940s to the 1960s.

Johannes Maria Bernhard "Hannes" Nikel was a German film editor. He is best known for his works in Das Boot (1981) and Stalingrad (1993), the former of which earned him an Academy Award nomination.

Denis Guedj was a French novelist and a professor of the History of Science at Paris VIII University. He was born in Setif. He spent many years devising courses and games to teach adults and children math. He is the author of Numbers: The Universal Language and of the novel The Parrot's Theorem. He died in Paris.

James Richard Gammon was an American actor, known for playing grizzled "good ol' boy" types in numerous films and television series. Gammon is best known as Lou Brown, the manager in the movies Major League and Major League II, which portrayed a fictitious version of the Cleveland Indians. He was also known for his role as the retired longshoreman Nick Bridges on the CBS television crime drama Nash Bridges.
