Rafael Acosta Arévalo
Rafael Ramón Acosta Arévalo was a Venezuelan military officer with the rank of corvette captain of the Armed Forces. Acosta Arévalo was victim of forced disappearance and tortured by agents of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM) during his detention after being accused by the government of Nicolás Maduro of "conspiring to carry out an attempted coup d'état". Acosta Arévalo died as a result of injuries suffered while in detention in the Military Hospital of the Army Dr. Vicente Salias Sanoja. The news of his death caused great impact in the media and the condemnation of both national and international authorities.
Lina Cheryazova
Lina Anatolyevna Cheryazova was an Uzbek freestyle skier who competed in aerials. She won a bronze medal at the 1990 European Championship and a gold medal at the 1993 World Championships before winning the gold medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics with a score of 166.84. So far she is the only athlete to have won a Winter Olympic medal while representing the Republic of Uzbekistan. Her achievements earned her the title of Honored Athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Boris Fyodorov
Boris Grigoryevich Fyodorov was a Russian economist, politician, and reformer. He was awarded a doctor of economics degree from the Moscow Finance Institute and authored over 200 publications. Fyodorov was Minister of Finance of the Russian SFSR in 1990. From 1991 to 1992 he worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London. In 1992 he became director of the World Bank. He served as Finance Minister of Russia from 1993 until 1994, when he resigned. Fyodorov was a member of the State Duma between 1994 and 1998. In 1998 he became a tax minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.
