Colonel Amirouche
Amirouche Aït Hamouda, commonly called Colonel Amirouche, was a leader in the Algerian War, organizing the maquis of the Wilaya III. He is considered a national hero in Algeria.
Mohamed Fellag
Mohamed Fellag is an Algerian comedian, writer, humorist, and actor. In 1958, at the height of the Algerian war of independence, his father took him and his younger brother, for their safety, to stay with an aunt in Beni-Messous where they went to primary school. He did his secondary studies in Tizi-Ouzou He entered the School of Dramatic Arts of Algiers in 1968 and stayed there for four years performing in several theatres throughout Algeria.
Mustapha Ourrad
On 7 January 2015 at about 11:30 a.m. CET local time, two French Muslim brothers, Saïd and Chérif Kouachi, forced their way into the offices of the French satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris. Armed with rifles and other weapons, they killed 12 people and injured 11 others. The gunmen identified themselves as belonging to the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which took responsibility for the attack. Several related attacks followed in the Île-de-France region on 7–9 January 2015, including the Hypercacher kosher supermarket siege where a terrorist-held 19 hostages, of whom he murdered four Jewish people.
