She served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Donegal South-West constituency from 1987 to 2011.

Wilfried Schmid is a German-American mathematician who works in Hodge theory, representation theory, and automorphic forms. He earned his Ph.D. at University of California, Berkeley in 1967 under the direction of Phillip Griffiths, and then taught at Berkeley and Columbia University, becoming a Full Professor at Columbia at age 27. In 1978 he moved to Harvard University, where he is currently the Dwight Parker Robinson Professor of Mathematics.

In addition, he is an Associate Arts Professor in the Undergraduate Film and Television Department at New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
