Jakob Christof Rad, was a Swiss-born physician and industrial manager. Sometimes appearing as the Anglicised, Jacob Christoph, Rad, among many other professional activities, was a director of a sugar factory in Datschitz in Moravia in 1843, and invented the process and associated machinery for cutting large block sugar into manageable uniform pieces.

James Tobin was an American economist who served on the Council of Economic Advisers and consulted with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, and taught at Harvard and Yale Universities. He developed the ideas of Keynesian economics, and advocated government intervention to stabilize output and avoid recessions. His academic work included pioneering contributions to the study of investment, monetary and fiscal policy and financial markets. He also proposed an econometric model for censored dependent variables, the well-known Tobit model.

Gen Nakagawa, of his full name Motonobu Nakagawa (仲川元庸) is the mayor of Nara in Kansai, Japan. On 10 July 2017, he was elected to his third term as mayor. He is politically independent. Nakagawa supports investing more in child care.
