Caryl Whittier Chessman was a convicted robber, kidnapper and rapist who was sentenced to death for a series of crimes committed in January 1948 in the Los Angeles area. Chessman was charged with 17 counts and convicted under a loosely interpreted "Little Lindbergh law" – later repealed, but not retroactively – that defined kidnapping as a capital offense under certain circumstances. His case attracted worldwide attention, and helped propel the movement to end the use of capital punishment in the state of California.

Dmitry Nikolaevich Balakin (born February 24, 1985 in Ruzayevka, Mordovian ASSR, RSFSR), known as the "Saransk Maniac", is a Russian spree killer. He was found guilty of the murder of three people, rape and robbery, and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Jeanne Weber was a French serial killer. She strangled at least 10 children, including her own. She was both convicted of murder and declared insane in 1908; she hanged herself ten years later.

Seisaku Nakamura was a Japanese man convicted for serial killings in his teenage years. He is also known as Hamamatsu Deaf Killer. He was convicted of stabbing to death at least nine people, including several teenagers, in the Shizuoka Prefecture. The book, Senzen no Shōnen Hanzai (戦前の少年犯罪), which included the subject of the incident, was published in October 2007.

The Wednesday Strangler is an unidentified Japanese serial killer, responsible for the murders of seven women in Saga Prefecture from 1975 and 1989. The nickname comes from the fact that six of the victims disappeared on a Wednesday. The killings are also referred to as the Saga Women Murders.

Clayton Anthony Fountain was an American federal prisoner, member of the Aryan Brotherhood, and convicted murderer. Clayton was born on September 12, 1955, at the U.S. Army Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia. Clayton was the oldest of six children, having one brother and four sisters, and was named after his father, Clayton Raleigh Fountain. The family moved every 1½ to 2 years. While his father served combat tours in Korea and Vietnam and his mother was working, Clayton, as the oldest child in family, became a surrogate for both parents when he was very young. He recalled maternal responsibilities for cooking, ironing, serving, cleaning, and caring for his young siblings.

The Hammersmith nude murders is the name of a series of six murders in West London, England, in 1964 and 1965. The victims, all prostitutes, were found undressed in or near the River Thames, leading the press to nickname the killer Jack the Stripper. Two earlier murders, committed in West London in 1959 and 1963, have also been linked by some investigators to the same perpetrator.

The Pharmacy Maniac is the name of an unidentified Russian serial killer who killed 2 men in Chelyabinsk in 2011, both of them in pharmacies. He remains uncaptured, and his motives have not been fully established.
