He has also contributed by explaining self-deception as an adaptive evolutionary strategy and discussing intragenomic conflict.

Creeley lived in Waldoboro, Buffalo, and Providence, where he taught at Brown University. He was a recipient of the Lannan Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award.
