Eisenhower Professor of Economics and International Affairs Emeritus at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and the Economics Department at Princeton University. His research focuses primarily on poverty, inequality, health, wellbeing, and economic development.

Yuta Watanabe is a Japanese professional basketball player for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Raptors 905 of the NBA G League. He played college basketball in the United States for the George Washington Colonials after becoming the first Japan-born student athlete to secure an NCAA Division I basketball scholarship. He was named the Atlantic 10 Conference's defensive player of the year in 2018.
