She is perhaps best known today for her role as Madame Emery, the umbrella-shop owner, in Jacques Demy's 1964 musical The Umbrellas of Cherbourg starring Catherine Deneuve. She was born in Saint-Denis, near Paris.

Known for his distinct falsetto voice, he is also a member of the bands Volcano Choir, Big Red Machine, The Shouting Matches, and Gayngs. He was previously a member of the now-defunct band DeYarmond Edison.

After retiring from the stage, she was founding director of the now independent ballet company Bayerisches Staatsballett.

Katherine Elizabeth Vernon is a Canadian-born film and television actress. She is known for her roles as Lorraine Prescott on the CBS soap opera Falcon Crest, the stuck-up and popular Benny Hanson in the comedy film Pretty in Pink (1986), and Sophia in the 1992 Spike Lee film, Malcolm X.
