George "Chester" Barnes was an English table tennis champion, who was England No. 1 player for many years during the 1960s and 1970s.

Conrad Francis Findlay was an American Olympic rower and sailor. He won four Olympic medals in those two sports, including two golds in coxed pair. He was also part of the America's Cup sailing crews that won in 1974 and 1977. He is one of 11 sailors to have won both the America's Cup and an Olympic medal

Kakarla Subba Rao was a radiologist who served as the first director of Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. For his contributions to the field of medicine, Rao was conferred Padma Shri in 2000, the fourth highest civilian award by the Government of India.

Zdenka Procházková was a Czech actress. She was married to Karel Höger, who she starred with in the 1949 film A Dead Man Among the Living, but they were already divorced by the time of his death in 1977.

Mohammad Mahdi Yaghoubi was an Iranian bantamweight freestyle wrestler. He competed at the 1952, 1956 and 1960 Olympics and won a silver medal in 1956. He also won a bronze medal at the 1951 World Wrestling Championships and placed fifth in 1954.

Thomas Lewis Curtis was an American college basketball player for the UCLA Bruins. He played on two undefeated national championship teams at UCLA. He did not lose a game in college until his final season, helping the school to a record 88-game consecutive win streak.

Wiesław Gołas was a Polish actor and Armia Krajowa soldier. He was cast in the role of Tomasz Czereśniak in Czterej pancerni i pies, a widely popular TV series set during World War II. He appeared in a number of films, including Ogniomistrz Kaleń (1961) and Dzięcioł (1970).

Orlando Martínez was a Cuban bantamweight boxer, who won the gold medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Three years later he captured the gold at the 1975 Pan American Games. Orlando was awarded a hotly disputed 3–2 split decision over Great Britain's George Turpin in the 1972 Munich Olympics semifinal before coasting to a comfortable points win over future professional world bantamweight champion Alfonso Zamora in the final to win the division's gold medal.

Margitta Gummel was a German Olympic gold medal-winning shot putter. She competed for the Unified German team in the 1964 Summer Olympics, East Germany in the 1968 Summer Olympics, and East Germany again at the 1972 Summer Olympics. She had a long rivalry with Nadezhda Chizhova of the Soviet Union.
