Jörg Kastendiek was a German politician for the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU), who was member of the Bürgerschaft, the state parliament of Bremen. Kastendiek also served as senator of Bremen from 2005 to 2007, as Senator for Economy and Ports and as Senator for Culture.

Sylvia Belle Chase was an American broadcast journalist. She was a correspondent for ABC's 20/20 from its inception until 1985, when she left to become a news anchor at KRON-TV in San Francisco; in 1990 she returned to ABC News in New York.

He was previously president of Vasco da Gama between 2001 and 2008, having also previously worked in Vasco da Gama administration. He succeeded Antônio Soares Calçada in December 2000, and was reelected in December 2003 and December 2006. He was replaced by Roberto Dinamite in June 2008, however he returns to the presidency of Vasco da Gama in December 2014. He was also a federal deputy and known by his political approach characterised by Euriquism.

Kary Banks Mullis was an American biochemist. In recognition of his invention of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique, he shared the 1993 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Michael Smith and was awarded the Japan Prize in the same year. His invention became a central technique in biochemistry and molecular biology, described by The New York Times as "highly original and significant, virtually dividing biology into the two epochs of before PCR and after PCR."
