Hans Bentzien (1927–2015) was a German writer and politician who served as the culture minister of East Germany from 1961 to 1966. Being a member of the ruling party Socialist Unity Party (SED), he held several political and public posts in East Germany.

Egon Adler was a German cyclist. He won the silver medal in the team time trial event at the 1960 Summer Olympics

Ahmed Samy Khalifa was an Egyptian pediatric hematologist/oncologist. He established the specialty of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Ain Shams University. He treated thousands of children with thalassemia, leukemia and other hematologic and ontological diseases all over Egypt.

Sebastiano Vassalli was an Italian author. He wrote the 2007 novel The Italian (L'italiano).

Aloysius Benedictus "Ben" Mboi was the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara from 1978 to 1988. By profession he was a physician. His spouse, Nafsiah Mboi, who is also a physician, was Minister of Health from 14 June 2012 until 20 October 2014.

John Alfred Williams was an African-American author, journalist, and academic. His novel The Man Who Cried I Am was a bestseller in 1967. Also a poet, he won an American Book Award for his 1998 collection Safari West.
