Stathis Damianakos is considered one of the most prominent researchers in the fields of agriculture, ethnological and cultural sociology in Greece. Among his most known works are the "Sociology of Rebetiko" and "Paradosi antarsias kai laikos politismos". Damianakos was a Marxist sociologist and was professor at the University Paris X. In 2002 he was invited as a guest professor in the University of Crete in Rethymnon. Little before he was found dead in his apartment in Paris, he had expressed his wish to continue teaching in Crete. In May 2005 a conference to his memory was held in Athens.

Silvio Pedroni was an Italian cyclist. He competed in the individual and team road race events at the 1948 Summer Olympics. He also rode in the 1949 Tour de France.

Séan Joseph McClory was an Irish actor whose career spanned six decades and included well over 100 films and television series. He was sometimes billed as Shawn McGlory or Sean McGlory.

Alexander Gordon Jump was an American actor best known as the clueless yet occasionally wise radio station manager Arthur "Big Guy" Carlson in the TV series WKRP in Cincinnati and the incompetent "Chief of Police Tinkler" in the sitcom Soap. Jump's most memorable guest starring role was on a two-part episode of the 1980s sitcom Diff'rent Strokes, in which he portrayed a pedophile who attempts to molest main characters Arnold and his friend, Dudley. He also played the "Maytag Repairman" in commercials for Maytag brand appliances, from 1989 until his retirement from the role in July 2003.
