Henriette Guizot de Witt was a French writer who wrote under the name Mme de Witt, née Guizot.

John Sparks was an American politician. He was the tenth Governor of Nevada, and was nicknamed Honest John. Like his predecessor, Reinhold Sadler, Sparks was a cattleman and his rise to political power was evidence of the decline of the mining industry and the rise of the ranching industry in Nevada. He was a member of the Silver – Democratic Party. In 1958, he was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

Victor-Lucien-Sulpice Lécot was a French archbishop and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

John Baptiste Berthier was a Catholic missionary and educator. Berthier was born February 24, 1840 in Chatonnay in southern France. He founded a Catholic religious institute, the Institute for Late Vocations in Grave, the Netherlands in 1895 - organized to meet the needs of men who desired to become priests later in their life. The organization received episcopal approval in 1904, and took the name Missionaries of the Holy Family. Berthier died Oct. 16, 1908. Berthier was the author of 36 ascetical and theological works, largely relating to the diversity of ways to holiness through imitating the holy family.

William Keith Brooks was an American zoologist, born in Cleveland, Ohio, March 25, 1848. Brooks studied embryological development in invertebrates and founded a marine biological laboratory where he and others studied heredity. His best known book, The Oyster, was first published in 1891 and has been reprinted many times.

Francis Philip Fleming was an American politician and the 15th Governor of Florida from 1889 to 1893. Fleming was a Democrat. He was a Confederate soldier and lawyer before he became governor. He has been called the second-worst Florida governor, and his "racist record is undisputed".

Sir Richard Horner Paget, 1st Baronet was a British Conservative politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1865 to 1895.
