William Francis Giauque was a Canadian-born American chemist and Nobel laureate recognized in 1949 for his studies in the properties of matter at temperatures close to absolute zero. He spent virtually all of his educational and professional career at the University of California, Berkeley.

Nicholas Ulrich Mayall was an American observational astronomer. After obtaining his doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, Mayall worked at the Lick Observatory, where he remained from 1934 to 1960, except for a brief period at MIT's Radiation Laboratory during World War II.

Albert Ritserveldt was a Belgian racing cyclist. He won the 1939 edition of the Liège–Bastogne–Liège.

Bruno Roth was a German racing cyclist. He won the German National Road Race in 1935. He also rode in the 1935 Tour de France.
