Tihiro Ohkawa was a Japanese physicist whose field of work was in plasma physics and fusion power. He was a pioneer in developing ways to generate electricity by nuclear fusion when he worked at General Atomics. Ohkawa died September 27, 2014 in La Jolla, California at the age of 86.

Ida Ørskov was a Danish physician and bacteriologist whose dissertation Om Klebsiella was the first scientific study pointing to the risk of bacterial cross-infection in hospitals.

Joseph Laniel was a French conservative politician of the Fourth Republic, who served as Prime Minister for a year from 1953 to 1954. During the middle of his tenure as Prime Minister Laniel was an unsuccessful candidate for the French Presidency, a post won by René Coty.

Ikuo Kamei was a Japanese politician of the People's New Party, a member of the House of Councillors in the Diet. A native of Shōbara, Hiroshima and graduate of the University of Tokyo, he was elected to the House of Councillors for the first time in 1998 after serving in the assembly of Hiroshima Prefecture. Shizuka Kamei, a member of the House of Representatives, is his brother.
