Thomas H. Kunz was an American biologist specializing in the study of bats. He was credited with coining the study of aeroecology; additionally, he wrote several fundamental textbooks and publications on bat ecology.

Richard Mansfield Dudley was Professor of Mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was born on July 28, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio. He received his PhD at Princeton University in 1962 under the supervision of Edward Nelson and Gilbert Hunt. He was a Putnam Fellow in 1958.
