In boxing he competed from 1997 to 2015, and held multiple light heavyweight world championships, including the WBA (Super), WBC, IBF and Ring magazine titles, as well as the IBO light heavyweight and cruiserweight titles.

Juan Carlos Payano is a Dominican professional boxer who held the WBA (Undisputed) and then concurrently the IBO bantamweight titles between 2014 and 2016. As an amateur he won two silver medals at the Pan American Games and a gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Matvey Georgiyevich "Matt" Korobov is a Russian professional boxer who has challenged once for the WBO middleweight title in 2014, and the WBC interim middleweight title in 2018. As an amateur he won consecutive gold medals at the 2005 and 2007 World Championships, and gold at the 2005 Boxing World Cup; all in the middleweight division.
