Raymond "Ray" Davis Jr. was an American chemist and physicist. He is best known as the leader of the Homestake experiment in the 1960s-1980s, which was the first experiment to detect neutrinos emitted from the Sun; for this he shared the 2002 Nobel Prize in Physics.

Katha Pollitt is an American poet, essayist and critic. She is the author of four essay collections and two books of poetry. Her writing focuses on political and social issues from a left-leaning perspective, including abortion, racism, welfare reform, feminism, and poverty.

Friedrich Wilhelm Georg Kohlrausch was a German physicist who investigated the conductive properties of electrolytes and contributed to knowledge of their behaviour. He also investigated elasticity, thermoelasticity, and thermal conduction as well as magnetic and electrical precision measurements.

Sir Archibald Woollaston White, 4th Bt. MFH was the son of William Knight Hamilton White, the second son of Sir Thomas White, 2nd Baronet. He was born at Tickhill in Yorkshire, where he lived throughout his childhood. He succeeded to the baronetcy upon the death of his uncle, Sir Thomas Woollaston White, 3rd Bt. in 1907.
