Karl Ahrens was a German Social Democratic Party politician who served as member of the German Bundestag from 1969 to 1990. He had a doctorate in law and was an assistant secretary of the Lower-Saxon ministry of the interior. As a member of the Bundestag, he worked mainly in the committee on economic affairs. Ahrens was president of the Association of European Border Regions from 1984 to 1996. He served as president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 1983 to 1986 and was the first German to do so.

Yuri Nikolayevich Koptev is a former General Director of the Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos), serving in that role from 1992 to 2004. He was replaced in 2004 by Anatoly Perminov, a former commander of the Russian Space Forces.

David Neil Cutler Sr. is an American software engineer. He developed several computer operating systems, namely Microsoft Windows NT, and Digital Equipment Corporation's RSX-11M, VAXELN and VMS.

José Clemente Maurer, C.Ss.R. was a German Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Sucre from 1951 to 1983, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1967.

Isaac Passy was a Jewish Bulgarian philosopher specializing in aesthetics. He was a professor at Sofia University from 1952 until 1993. He was the most prolific philosopher in the history of Bulgaria. He published over 40 monographs and over 80 volumes of the philosophical classics. He was the father of Solomon Passy.
