Kamal Jumblatt
Kamal Bek Jumblatt was a prominent Lebanese politician, philosopher, author, and poet. He is the founder of the Progressive Socialist Party and leader of the Lebanese National Movement which opposed the right-wing political parties backed by the Syrian government during the early years of the Lebanese Civil War. He was a major ally of the Palestine Liberation Organization until his assassination in 1977. He has authored more than 40 books centered on various political, philosophical, literary, religious, medical, social, and economic topics. In September 1972, Kamal Jumblatt received the International Lenin Peace Prize. He is the father of the Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt and the son in law of the Arab writer and politician Shakib Arslan.

Walter Levin
Walter Levin was the founder, first violinist, and guiding spirit of the LaSalle Quartet, which was known for its championing of contemporary composers, for its recordings of the Second Viennese School, as well as for its intellectually penetrating interpretations of the classical and romantic quartet repertory, in particular the late quartets of Beethoven. Levin was also an important pedagogue, having taught many of the world's leading string quartets, among them the Alban Berg Quartet and the Arditti Quartet; other prominent students include the conductor James Levine, the violinist Christian Tetzlaff and the pianist Stefan Litwin.

An heir to the famous Apraksin family, she was greatly interested in literature and arts, kept a fashionable Moscow salon and was a friend of Alexander Pushkin, Pyotr Vyazemsky and Mikhail Lermontov, among others.
