She is the paternal cousin of actress and singer Rita Carpio, and also the mother of actress and singer T.V. Carpio. She is most well known for her Cantonese-language hits, 假如 (If), 仍然記得嗰一次, 眉頭不再猛皺 (Sukiyaki), 何必放棄 and 真愛.

Ilse Koch was married to Karl-Otto Koch, commandant of the Nazi concentration camps Buchenwald (1937–1941) and Majdanek (1941–1943). In 1947, she became one of the first prominent Nazis tried by the U.S. military.

Born in Nobeoka, Miyazaki and a graduate of Keio University, she served in the assembly of Hiroshima Prefecture for four terms. On the 20th January 2021, at the Tokyo District Court, she was convicted of vote-buying in the 2019 House of Councillors election.
