Bernd Dittert is a retired racing cyclist from East Germany, who won the bronze medal for his native country in the men's 4,000m individual pursuit at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Four years later he won the gold medal in the men's team time trial (road), alongside Michael Rich, Christian Meyer and Uwe Peschel.

Albrecht Becker was a German production designer, photographer, and actor who was imprisoned by the Nazi regime for the charge of homosexuality.

Jochen Borchert is a German politician and member of the CDU. He was minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection in Chancellor Helmut Kohl's cabinet from 1993 to 1998. From 1980 to 2009 he has been a member of the Bundestag.

Christoph Albrecht was a German organist, conductor, composer, musicologist, and music educator. He was born in Salzwedel. He has toured extensively as an organist, appearing in concerts and recitals throughout Europe and in the United States. He is the author of several publications on the topics of liturgy and hymnology. He has also written extensively on sacred music from the 16th through the 18th centuries, and has been instrumental in publishing many forgotten works from that period.

Polykarp Kusch was a German-born American physicist. In 1955, the Nobel Committee gave a divided Nobel Prize for Physics, with one half going to Kusch for his accurate determination that the magnetic moment of the electron was greater than its theoretical value, thus leading to reconsideration of—and innovations in—quantum electrodynamics.
