Grzegorz Filipowski is a former Polish competitive figure skater. He is the 1985 European bronze medalist, the 1989 European silver medalist and the 1989 World bronze medalist.

Heinrich Edwin Rickert was a German journalist and liberal politician. He was the father of the philosopher Heinrich Rickert.

Julie Guicciardi was an Austrian countess and briefly a piano student of Ludwig van Beethoven. He dedicated to her his Piano Sonata No. 14, later known as the Moonlight Sonata.

Viktor Hamburger was a German-American professor and embryologist. His collaboration with neuroscientist Rita Levi-Montalcini resulted in the discovery of nerve growth factor. In 1951 he and Howard Hamilton in 1951 published a standardized stage series to describe chicken embryo development, now called the Hamburger-Hamilton stages. He was considered "one of the most influential neuroembryologists of the twentieth century".

Grzegorz Gwiazdowski is a professional racing cyclist from Poland. His most prominent result was in winning the UCI Road World Cup event the Züri-Metzgete in 1999 whilst riding for Cofidis. He rode for Cofidis for two years in 1998 and 1999 before moving to Française des Jeux for 2000 and 2001. He announced his retirement at the end of the 2001 season.

His interest in mathematics, astronomy, and theology led him to mentor a number of important young scholars, including Copernicus. He was a prolific writer and correspondent, publishing a number of works on the reformation of the church. Tiedemann was a member of the patrician Giese family of Danzig (Gdańsk) in Poland. The Giese family ancestors originated from Unna in Westphalia, near Cologne. His father was Albrecht Giese and his younger brother, the Hanseatic League merchant Georg Giese.
