Eduard Wirths was the Chief SS doctor (SS-Standortarzt) at the Auschwitz concentration camp from September 1942 to January 1945. Thus, Wirths had formal responsibility for everything undertaken by the nearly 20 SS doctors who worked in the medical sections of Auschwitz between 1942–1945.

Dietrich Braess is a German mathematician. He is known for Braess's paradox, which deals with traffic equilibrium. Braess' focus has centered on numerical treatment of elliptical differential equations and nonlinear approximation theories.

Helmut Kämpfe was a highly decorated Waffen SS Sturmbannführer who was murdered by the French Resistance just before the Oradour massacre in occupied France on 10 June 1944. In total 642 men, women and children were killed in Oradour-sur-Glane by troops from the 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich. The SS commander who ordered the massacre said the death of Kämpfe was the reason for the killings.

Laura Tomlinson MBE is a German-born British dressage rider competing at Olympic level. As of 30 June 2012 the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) ranked her 3rd in the world riding Mistral Højris and 36th on Andretti H. In that year, Tomlinson, riding Mistral Højris under her maiden name of Laura Bechtolsheimer, won two medals in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London; gold for Great Britain in the team dressage with Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin, the first ever Olympic team gold in the discipline for her country, and bronze in the individual dressage behind gold medalist and compatriot Dujardin.

Andrea Breth is a stage director. Breth studied German and English language and literature in the University of Heidelberg from 1970 to 1972. In 1999, she became a resident director at the Burgtheater in Vienna. Andrea Breth grew up in Darmstadt. From 1971 to 1973 she studied literature at the University of Heidelberg. Her first directorial engagements took her to Bremen, Wiesbaden, Hamburg and Berlin, the Zurich Schauspielakademie and the Theater Neumarkt in Zurich. From 1983 to 1985, she was director at Theater Freiburg. Her production of Lorca's The House of Bernarda Alba won her the first of a number of invitations to the Berlin Theatertreffen in 1985. In the same year, Theater heute voted her Director of the Year. From 1986 to 1989 Breth worked at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. Green's Southand Gorki's The Last Ones saw Andrea Breth win her second invitation to the Berlin Theatertreffen. In 1990 and 1992 she directed Kleist's Der zerbrochne Krug at the Burgtheater and O'Caseys The End of the Beginning at the Akademietheater.

Marcus Burghardt is a German professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Bora–Hansgrohe.

Jens Ramme is a German former footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Dynamo Dresden. He is notable for being on the receiving end of one of the biggest comebacks in footballing history.

Gerhard Palitzsch, was a German Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) of the SS. He was notorious for his brutal treatment of prisoners in Auschwitz concentration camp.

Gabi Reha is a German swimmer. She competed in three events at the 1988 Summer Olympics representing West Germany.
