Rear Admiral Sir Richard John Trowbridge, was a senior officer in the Royal Navy and the 25th Governor of Western Australia, serving from 25 November 1980 to 24 November 1983. He was the last British-born vice-regal representative in Australia. He was also the first officer to rise from boy seaman to captain of the Queen's yacht HMY Britannia.

Pierre Moinot was a French novelist. He was elected to the Académie française on 21 January 1982.

Maurice Pelling (1920–1973) was a British art director. He won an Academy Award in the category Best Art Direction for the film Cleopatra.

Harry Alan Towers was a British radio and independent film producer and screenwriter. He wrote numerous screenplays for the films he produced, often under the pseudonym Peter Welbeck. He produced over 80 feature films and continued to write and produce well into his 80s. Towers was married to the actress Maria Rohm, who appeared in many of his films.

Reginald Rose was an American film and television writer, most widely known for his work in the early years of television drama. He wrote about controversial social and political issues. His realistic approach was particularly influential in the anthology programs of the 1950s.
