Thomas Schäfer is a retired German diplomat. He was German ambassador to North Korea from 2007 to 2010 and from 2013 to 2018. He voluntarily served the second term, as he is personally fascinated by the country. He was described as one of the most experienced Western diplomats in Pyongyang by Handelsblatt. Schäfer is the author of From Kim Jong Il to Kim Jong Un: How the Hardliners Prevailed: On the Political History of North Korea . He received his PhD in German History from the University of Kiel in 1985. His first posting after studying history took him to Beijing in the 1980s. The fact that he gained an insight into the Chinese bureaucracy there helped him to understand North Korea. Since then, he has commuted between Latin America and Asia, holding posts in El Salvador, Hong Kong and Venezuela. Before heading back to North Korea, Schäfer became German ambassador to Guatemala, his wife's home country, in 2010.

Pete Michels is an American animation director who is the supervising director of Future-Worm! on Disney XD. Prior, he was a supervising director on seasons 1 and 2 of Rick & Morty, an animation and supervising director on Family Guy, and supervising director of the short-lived TV show Kid Notorious. He started working on The Simpsons in 1990 as a background layout artist, and eventually became a director. He has also been a director on Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life, and Bless the Harts.

He has appeared in films such as Go (1999), Repli-Kate (2002), The Hills Have Eyes (2006) and Turistas (2006). He has appeared in episodic television on series such as Grange Hill, Las Vegas, Charmed, the short-lived Then Came You, as the recurring character Brody Davis on Roswell, and perhaps most famously as the titular adaptation of the 1987 children's series Simon and the Witch. He also voiced many minor characters in the 2009 video game Dragon Age Origins. He has recently voiced as CIA Nerd in Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
