Sutan Sjahrir
Sutan Sjahrir was an Indonesian revolutionary independence leader and prime minister, described as an idealistic Indonesian intellectual. He became the first prime minister of Indonesia in 1945, after a career as a key Indonesian nationalist organizer in the 1930s and 1940s. From there, Sutan worked hard as Prime Minister to ensure Indonesia was living up to its name. He was considered an idealist and an intellectual who despite his political interest, put his country first before his own needs. Unlike some of his colleagues, he did not support the Japanese and worked to gain independence for Indonesia.
Sutan Bhatoegana
Sutan Bhatoegana Siregar was an Indonesian politician of the Democratic Party. Sutan was a member of the People's Representative Council Commission VII of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR-RI) for the period 2009-2014 were selected from the 2009 legislative elections from the first North Sumatra constituency that includes Medan, Deli Serdang, Serdang Badagai, and Tebing Tinggi by the Democratic Party. Sutan was one of the founders of the Democratic Party, he was recorded as a founder and secretary of the Communication Forum Deklarator (FKPD) Democratic Party, although it is considered the unofficial forum by internal Democratic Party.

Sutan Takdir Alisjahbana
Sutan Takdir Alisjahbana, was born in Natal, North Sumatra. His family came from Minangkabau who migrated there in the 19th century. He was a founder and editor of Poedjangga Baroe. He became one of Indonesian literature's guiding lights in its formative years, particularly in the time around independence. Sutan Takdir believed that Indonesia could learn from the values of western civilization and remained a great exponent of modernism throughout his life. A Renaissance man himself – the author of numerous books on a range of subjects – he was working on a novel at the time of his death in 1994. The famous novel, Layar Terkembang, showed him as a progressive author. He died in Jakarta on July 17, 1994.
