Sanford Ballard Dole was a lawyer and jurist from the Hawaiian Islands as a kingdom, protectorate, republic, and territory. A descendant of the American missionary community to Hawaii, Dole advocated the westernization of Hawaiian government and culture. After the overthrow of the monarchy, he served as the President of the Republic of Hawaii until his government secured Hawaii's annexation by the United States.

Sanford "Sandy" Meisner was an American actor and acting teacher who developed an approach to acting instruction that is now known as the Meisner technique. While Meisner was exposed to method acting at the Group Theatre, his approach differed markedly in that he completely abandoned the use of affective memory, a distinct characteristic of method acting. Meisner maintained an emphasis on "the reality of doing", which was the foundation of his approach.
Sanford Bishop
Sanford Dixon Bishop Jr. is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Georgia's 2nd congressional district, serving since 1993. He became the dean of Georgia's congressional delegation following the death of John Lewis. As a member of the Blue Dog Coalition, he belongs to the conservative faction of the Democratic Party. His district is located in the southwestern part of the state and includes Albany, Thomasville, and most of Columbus and Macon.
