Maria Palaiologina
Maria Palaiologina was the daughter of the Byzantine Emperor Michael VIII Palaiologos who became the wife of the Mongol ruler Abaqa Khan, and an influential Christian leader among the Mongols. After Abaqa's death she became the leader of a Monastery in Constantinople which was popularly named after her as Saint Mary of the Mongols. Her monastic name was Melanie.

Maria Francisca of Savoy
Dona Maria Francisca of Savoy was twice queen consort of Portugal as the spouse of two Portuguese kings: Afonso VI and Peter II of Portugal. She first became queen of Portugal at the age of 20 on the day of her marriage to Afonso VI; because the marriage was never consummated, she was able to obtain an annulment. On 28 March 1668, she married Afonso's brother, the Infante Peter, Duke of Beja, who was appointed prince regent the same year due to Afonso's perceived incompetence. Maria Francisca became queen of Portugal for the second time when Peter succeeded his brother as Peter II in 1683 but died herself later that year.
Maria Lassnig
Maria Lassnig was an Austrian artist known for her painted self-portraits and her theory of "body awareness". She was the first female artist to win the Grand Austrian State Prize in 1988 and was awarded the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art in 2005. Lassnig lived and taught in Vienna from 1980 until her death.

María del Monte Vasco Pes Gallardo is a Spanish race walker. She won the bronze medal in the 20 km at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. Vasco was also a gold and bronze medalist at the IAAF Race Walking Championships. She was born in Viladecans near Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
María Soledad Iparraguirre
María Soledad Iparraguirre Guenechea, known as "Marisol" until 1994 and "Anboto" thereafter, is a senior figure in the Basque separatist group ETA and the second woman, after Dolores González Cataráin, to be a member of ETA's executive. Arrested in October 2004, in December 2010 she was sentenced by French courts to 20 years in prison.

Maria Viktorovna Vasilevich is a Belarusian model and politician. Vasilevich studied at the Belarus State Economic University. She won the Miss Belarus 2018 pageant and finished in the top five at the Miss World beauty pageant in December. She became a member of the House of Representatives in 2019. Vasilevich was elected at the age of 22 and is the youngest member of the parliament.
